You want to perceive me? How about my cats instead?

Hello there!

I’ve been called many things (bookworm, nerd, short, afternoon quail, geek, oblivious, gamer, and what have you), but you can call me Lynx!

If anyone I know IRL finds this, please don’t tell me.

My Cats 💜

The website name and my moniker both take inspiration from my kitty, Snowdrift. She’s a lynx point Siamese cat! (As you can surely tell, I’m very creative when it comes to naming things.) My profile picture is actually a basic sketch I made from tracing one of her photos.

Snow is as dumb as she is adorable. Soft and squishable. Has the bad habit of rolling off the top of her cat tree. Super skittish unless you’re sleeping and trying to roll over. Becomes very concerned when you play crying kitten videos. Knows how to push doors, but not how to pull them.

My other kitty is Fawn! AKA: Nubbs, Nubbins, Chicken, Biscuit, Professor Nubbins, Nubbula, Criminal, Trash Cat, and many other nicknames that I can’t remember right now. No idea what breed Nubbs is, but she’s tiny and has no tail. Maybe Manx? I used a photo of her toe beans to make the site logo.

Nubbs is cute and knows it. Baps you when she wants attention. Steals food you’re actively eating. Absolutely loves being under blankets. Will fight a god. Unprompted. Causes as much mayhem as someone with no thumbs possibly can. Knows how to pull doors, but not how to push them.

No, they haven’t figured out how to work together with the doors. I fear the day they do.

What Led Me Here

Reviewing books isn’t something I ever thought I’d be doing. After having it be a semi-consistent ‘this would be fun’ thought for a year, I decided to give in. As such, this is a hobby, not a commitment. My goal is to post at least two reviews a month, but there’s no guarantee I’ll always come through. It takes me an absurdly long time to actually get my words onto paper. (The pages on this website took much longer to put together than I expected.) I’m hoping that the process of writing these reviews does my mental health some good. If we’re lucky, it will!

I’m not too sure what to call my writing style. Comfortable? I was once told that I write like I’m physically talking to a close friend. Who knows? Certainly not I. There will be curse words. Grammar rules won’t always be followed completely. Bold is for emphasis, italics tend to be for sarcasm, and (parenthesis are for commentary).

As much as I would love to say I own every book I’ve reviewed on here, my shelf space is sadly limited. Most of my reviews are done on books borrowed from local libraries. I’ll sometimes renew my Kindle subscription for a month and read a bunch there. Every so often, a friend will loan me a book they think I’d like. On rare occasions, perhaps once every year or two, I’ll treat myself and go to a bookstore.

Anyways, I hope my reviews bring you entertainment! 💜
